Suspect arrested in shooting near N.C. schools

ELIZABETH CITY - A man wanted in connection with a shooting late last month was taken into custody Wednesday in New York City.

Perrier Perry Jones, 22, of Elizabeth City was arrested with the help of a joint task force, according to a news release from Elizabeth City Police.

Just before 1 p.m. on Friday April 27, five gunshots were fired at Derrick White Jr., 20, after he pulled onto Harding Street to pick up his girlfriend, police said. White was taken to a hospital, treated and released.

Pasquotank and P.W. Moore elementary schools were locked down for about 40 minutes as a result of the gunfire.

Police also said that they are still looking for Nathaniel Graham, 18, who is wanted in connection with three area shootings, two in Elizabeth City and one in Edenton.

Elizabeth City Police are offering as much as $5,000 for information leading to Graham's arrest.
